August 11 And...its been another month since I last blogged...Alot going on lately.....
The search for a new space for my studio is a slow one. I've checked out a few places, but alas, the ceilings are way too low.
Still unpacking at the new house....
Teaching classes as usual......but missing out on being a student at my own classes because of events and prior engagements...
But I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about finding a new place for the Wushu school....
However, sometimes, the universe just drops random stuff, just to keep me awake....below is a copy of my MySpace blog about what happened to me Thursday morning. Not at all that earth shattering, but interesting enough to "keep me awake"...
"As of it was planned..."
I was driving back to the studio this afternoon, right after my late lunch...,...and I slow to a stop at an intersection. As I sat there, a guy on a scooter ( looked like a little Honda Elite or something) pulled up in the left-turn-only lane next to me. He looked young....like "teenager young". And the reason why I could tell he looked so young, was that he wasn't wearing a helmet....just a backward baseball cap!! Dude couldn't have been more than "I just got my driver's license" age. I couldn't help myself....so I rolled down my window and called out "No helmet today, friend??" He says: "Naw, I'm only going a couple of blocks...." "It only takes a couple of feet of fall, for someone to injure themselves. Road rash sucks....not to mention a head injury...." He looks forward, then looks back at me. "Yeah, well....I'll be okay. Do you ride?". "Yeah, a Shadow and a Ninja...heh heh...but not at the same time!...." He laughs, I laugh. His light turns into a left turn arrow. "see ya" he says. My light is still red, so I just sit there, kind of shaking my head at the youngster. Just as he starts to turn, a car pulls through the intersection, obviously oblivious to the fact that their light had turned red. Young dude comes to a stop at a slight angle in the intersection,.... the car's tires chirp as it stopped. A middle aged lady comes ripping out of the car, screaming "What the hell?? You f**king punk! What the f**k!! Godd**n f**king...blah blah blah!!!" *Insert informational bit here* (Now, I know this intersection, I come through here every day........ When that particular left turn lane has a green arrow, the through traffic has a red light, and both (northbound and southbound ) left turn lanes cane take their left turns. Sometimes its a little wait for through traffic to get a green light, because there are 5 points that go through that intersection.) I get out of my car, as does the guy behind me,.....the guy behind me runs past me saying "shit, did that chick hit the bike?" I run to that part of the intersection, saying to the lady : "YOUR light was red...the kid had a green left arrow....you ran your light". I don't know what was going on with this lady, because she proceeded to cuss and rant,...she actually walked up to me and thumped her finger several times on my chest, saying "You're full of shit!!!" (She said something else, but I couldn't understand a work of it because she was yelling so incoherently that she was spitting as she yelled. )..... "Don't f**king push me with that finger, or I'll f**king break it", is what was going through my head.........instead I said "Oh, you DON'T want to get physical with me...". A lady on the same side of the street got out of HER car and shouted "Hey! It was a RED LIGHT for us! What the hell were you doing?" And crazy lady starts yelling at her too!! The crazy lady pushes me aside to get to the kid.....this lady was pissed...I was afraid she was going to try and bust the kid's chops or something.... I grabbed her arm, and proceeded to tell her (trying not to let this lady's screaming get the best of me) "No, your light was RED. It would make no sense for that lane (pointing to the left turn lane) to have a green arrow while your light is green too. The only people that should've been moving on your side, were the people in the left turn lane on your side!!" Okay, so here we are, in the intersection....people are honking because my car (1st at the light) and the car behind me wasn't moving. The guy that was behind me, was talking to the kid, and I'm trying to reason with this jerk-bitch who must've missed a dose on her meds, while the other lady is telling the jerk-bitch to shut up. People are honking on jerk-bitch's side of the street too. Jerk-bitch just would not shut up. It was almost amusing how worked up she was! It didn't seem very long at all....seemed to me like only about a minute.....but a police car came up on the scene, then another one. Someone must've called the cops. I got back into my car and pulled into the bank parking lot right next to the intersection, and the guy behind me pulled into the same lot.....we go back to tell the police officer our stories of what we saw. Meanwhile, Jerk Bitch gets hauled away in a police cruiser. I didn't see what the lady might've done to get taken away in a cop car, but it must've been a dumbass move on her part! It was indeed surreal....just a few minutes prior, I was suggesting that a kid wear a helmet.....and then he almost gets smacked with a car. It seemed like it was all played out as if it was PLANNED. Candid Camera?? I don't know! Lesseee.....lessons learned today: 1) Its empowering to be able to speak your mind in a mature, clear fashion to get your point across (Completely different story altogether!) 2) People can and will blow a cog and scream at you for no apparent reason. 3) What a week...I know the universe is trying to get me to learn something this week.....(what it is, I don't know) 4) No matter what the weather, Siberia cold or Desert hot, I'm wearing all my gear when I'm on my bikes. Its better to sweat in a helmet and armored riding clothes, rather than being chilly in a hosptial ICU. Geez....I just hope this kid wears a helmet on when he's out on the scooter next time. And ya know....as I remember how this crazy lady was screaming and carrying on, I have to laugh out loud,....because she looked soooo out of control that it was sort of funny. Its bad of me to say that...but I guess you just had to have been there!! ** I almost forgot to mention. The kid turned out okay. Just a little shaken up. But, I had to leave, and didn't see if he got a ticket for no helmet or not. I'm pretty sure he would've gotten a ticket!! ** |
